The San Diego Castle Hotel in Macau (Portuguese: Pousada de Sao Tiago) is located on Avenida do Almeida de Macau, facing Lake Almeida.
The San Diego Fort built in 1629 has been preserved. The mottled stone walls, the remaining Fort Bulbs, and the lush moss all show the traces of 400 years, which is worthy of the first stop of the United Nations World Cultural Heritage the Historic Center of Macao.
In 1981, Zhou Yuguan, a Chinese designer and creator of the Seven Star Sailing Hotel in Dubai, personally transformed the ancient fortress into a hotel. The building was built along the mountain, blending Portuguese style with Macau characteristics. In order to preserve the castle's original natural mountain spring water system and handmade stone steps, elevators could not be added. The museum showcases the 400 year cultural fusion between China and Portugal, featuring Italian pure leather flooring and handcrafted Portuguese wooden beds.
The St. James's Chapel gently guards this holy land, and the wishing pool carries the expectations of several generations. The guest rooms are retro and warm, with wooden beams and vintage furniture, exuding a strong historical charm. Paired with Balangma (1629 Castle Restaurant in Macau), exquisite afternoon tea, aged beef steak, and daily freshly baked caramel puff pastry Portuguese tarts are all deeply loved by consumers.
